Powering the Future with Sustainable Solutions

Full Electrical Rewire Process (UK – BS 7671 Compliant)

At solus electrical, we specialise in full electrical rewires that strictly adhere to the latest edition of the BS 7671 Wiring Regulations (currently 18th Edition). A full rewire is a comprehensive process that involves replacing all wiring, accessories, and distribution boards to ensure a safe, compliant, and modern electrical installation throughout your property.

  1. Initial Assessment & Quotation
  • We begin with a detailed site survey, assessing the condition of the current installation.
  • We discuss your current and future needs – including sockets, lighting, data, and smart systems.
  • A written quotation is then provided, outlining scope, timescale, and costs.
  1. Planning & Design
  • The rewire is designed in line with BS 7671, Part P of the Building Regulations, and your specific layout requirements.
  • Key decisions are made on:
    • Socket and switch locations
    • Lighting design
    • RCD/RCBO protection
    • Future-proofing for EV charging, solar, or smart tech
  1. First Fix (Chasing & Cable Installation)
  • This stage occurs before plastering or decoration.
  • Old wiring is safely removed and new cable routes are installed (walls, ceilings, floors).
  • Cables for all circuits – lighting, power, cooker, smoke alarms, etc. – are installed.
  • Back boxes are fitted for switches, sockets, and accessories.
  1. Consumer Unit Replacement
  • A new 18th Edition consumer unit (fuse board) is installed, typically with RCBOs or a split-load design for optimal safety and circuit isolation.
  • All circuits are labelled and organised for ease of maintenance and compliance.
  1. Second Fix (Accessory Fitting)
  • After plastering/decoration, we return to fit:
    • Sockets, switches, light fittings
    • Smoke/heat alarms (as per BS 5839)
    • Cooker and shower isolators
  • Final connections are made to the consumer unit.
  1. Testing & Certification
  • A complete set of tests is carried out in accordance with BS 7671 (Section 6: Inspection & Testing).
  • We issue a Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).
  • A Part P Building Control notification is submitted (if applicable), and a certificate is provided to the client.
  1. Handover & Support
  • We walk you through your new installation, explaining safety features and future maintenance.
  • All documentation is handed over, and we remain available for ongoing support or additional work.
